PLAYPOINT GIVES BACK- Sponsors Playground to HIAM Health Centre, East Timor
Playpoint (Singapore) Pte Ltd has donated S$28,000 worth of KOMPAN playground to Hiam Health Centre, a malnutrition rehabilitation centre for children, situated in East Timor.
The donation was made possible through one of the founders of The Chain Reaction Project, Ms Zhang Tingjun who approached Playpoint and explained the plight of the children in Timor Leste who are malnourished.
The delivery of the playground equipment was arranged to coincide with the inaugural Dili ’City of Peace Marathon’ held on 20 June 2010. Over 20 members of TCRP, who took part in the race, visited the playground site.
The donation of KOMPAN Playground equipment consists of a spinner, a double slide tower, a supernova one rocker. The contribution is part of Playpoint’s corporate social responsibility programme called “Playpoint Gives Back 2010”. Under this programme, Playpoint actively donates sets of KOMPAN Playground annually to children’s charities for the under-privileged kids to give them a chance to enjoy play and all the benefits that come along with utilising Playpoint’s playground modules.

The playground was officially opened by President Jose-Ramos Horta. Director of HIAM Health Rosaria Martins da Cruz was heartened by the contributions received. |
The playground allows children living in the centre and around the neighbourhood to have a safe place to play instead of playing in the streets or in drains. More specifically, the playground also offers the malnourished children at the centre the opportunity to regain their strength through something as simple as play. Currently, there are only one playground in East Timor, which is located at the Presidential Palace.
